Though some fans put two and two together when one crew member likened Season 1’s big bad to Poirot (i.e. David Suchet), on top of the Pyramids of Mars callback in The Devil’s Chord (the Doctor showing Ruby a ravaged future Earth, just as he did with Sarah Jane all those years ago), the big reveal was massively exciting, as we realised that Susan Triad wasn’t anything to do with TARDISes or Time Lords, but one of classic Who’s most beloved enemies.

The moment the letters crash together to become SUE-TECH is still sensational – a proper “They’ve actually gone and done it!” moment. And the fact that Gabriel Woolf was back providing Sutekh’s voice was the icing on the cake.
