10 Best Horror Anthology TV Shows
4. Goosebumps
The influence of Goosebumps cannot be overstated. It was a doorway for many children to gain a love for the macabre and even those who found it too frightening were lucky to be able to learn about fear at a young age. Fear is an emotion all must experience, and much like how Jim Henson deliberately wanted to scare children with his film The Dark Crystal this series did not shy away from teaching children what it meant to be afraid.
Based on the R.L Stine books this series ran for four seasons and boasted an impressive 74 episodes. With too many highlights to count including titles such as The Haunted Mask, Stay Out the Basement and One Day at Horror land to name a few, this show deserves the tenure it has.
It was fantastic at providing something scary but fun, never taking itself too seriously and allowing for the funnier moments to complement the frightening ones. Part of this came down to its often goofy visual effects, that suited the tone perfectly. The show is widely known as the starting point for many future horror fans and for that it deserves to be appreciated as one of the best.
