When young Sally Sparrow discovers a message left for her in an abandoned house, it leads her on a trail left by the Doctor. He needs her help to get his TARDIS back, after becoming stuck in the past, thanks to an attack by the ancient Weeping Angels. Creatures that turn to stone whilst their being watched, but can attack the second you blink. Can Sally succeed and send the TARDIS back to the Doctor? Or will the Angels take her first?

This episode, though more about time-travel than spooks, has plenty of ghostly imagery. The Weeping Angels look like the sort of statues that you might finding lurking in a graveyard. Whilst the ivy-covered house, with its crypt like basement, just adds to creepiness. The Angels themselves are a scary concept - a danger you can’t look away from, and that can strike the second you look away. Imagine meeting them on a dark and stormy night!
