10 Best Moments From Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary Year

3. The Tenth Doctor Returns

Doctor Who David Returns

The 50th anniversary extravaganzathon (if the Doctor can make up words...) that was The Day of the Doctor was already playing host to three magnificent Time Lords, but there's always room for one more and, in our opinion, there was only ever one it could have been... Enter Mr David Tennant! The Tenth Doctor made his triumphant return during the feature-length special to aid his future incarnation in his greatest challenge yet. The sizzling on screen chemistry between the Eleventh Doctor and his predecessor was one of the highlights of the adventure as the duo compared glasses, amongst other things, whilst generally proving that two Doctors are always better than one. David Tennant's last appearance as the Doctor was aired back on January 1st 2010 in the second instalment of The End of Time. What's more, his final spoken words were left untarnished by his commemorative comeback, as by the end of The Day of the Doctor, he still didn't want to go. "He always says that," the Eleventh Doctor reassured Clara.
