What makes this special so...special, Jesus we need to invest in a thesaurus. What makes this special so special is that prior to this Tig Notaro was most widely known for her album LIVE, which you should also listen to because it's phenomenal. Notaro was diagnosed with breast cancer four nights before a show was scheduled. She did the show anyway, and she threw out all prepared material and went completely off book. That became LIVE.

Happy To Be Here retains a lot of Notaro's signature dark humour - as well as her deadpan delivery - but also revels in all the things that make her happy. One of those, of course, is performing, but it also extends to her wife and two children and all the weirdness that comes along with them. She also discusses having conversations with her kitten, accidentally almost hanging said kitten, her imaginary dog and her favourite activity: going to parties where she doesn't know a single person and trying her hardest to seem utterly insane...but still deadpan.

The crown jewel of the entire set is an extended - around about ten minute - fake out with the audience as to whether she managed to get The Indigo Girls to close out her show - also, guys, Notaro knows a lot about The Indigo Girls.

Happy To Be Here is a delight, not just because it's gut-bustingly funny but also because it's nice to see that Notaro, as the title suggests, is indescribably happy to be here.

Johnny sat by the fire, idly swirling his brandy, flicking through the pages of War and Peace, wondering whether it was pretentious to write his bio in the third person.
