10 Best Obscure Literary References In Archer

8. John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men

ArcherGrowingConcern Which Episode It Can Be Found In: A Growing Concern and Blood Test In the episode A Growing Concern, Len, the head of rival spy agency ODIN and Mallory Archer's boyfriend, not so accidentally has a chip implanted into his brain to control his actions. After his highly experimental surgery from an LSD-laced Krieger, Len finds himself fascinated by a test rabbit in the lab. Len: Actually can I have all of it? And the bunny attached to it? He is attached, right? Can I have the bunny and the lettuce? Archer: Um, can we give Lennie the rabbit? Len: And the lettuce! Lennie is clearly a reference both to the name of the ODIN leader and to the slow lumbering character in of Mice and Men who just wants to find a farm where he can tend rabbits with his friend George. An additional allusion to the book is made in the episode Blood Test, when Agent Ray Gillette tells Lana Kane to hand the Wee Baby Seamus to his mother, saying €œGiver her the rabbit, Lennie.€ This line is an insult to Lana's mannish hands as a reference to Lennie's tendency to accidentally crush animals to death with his massive hands.
