7. Death's Door

Supernatural Bobby Singer death
The CW

For the most part, Season 7 was Supernatural at its lowest point, but Death's Door did briefly kick the series back to life in order to send off one of its most beloved characters. After Bobby's shot in the head and rushed to hospital by Sam and Dean, the episode plays out inside their surrogate father's mind, as he slowly comes to terms with his imminent demise.

While Supernatural is no stranger to killing characters, Death's Door is a beautifully melancholic farewell to Bobby. Following the veteran hunter as he jumps through his memories in order to escape the reaper coming to collect his soul, Bobby wanders through the worst moments from his life - his disastrous marriage, abusive childhood and one endless hunt after the other - while they all disappear, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind style, as he succumbs to his wounds.

Eventually confronting the reaper, who tells him he doesn't need to keep on fighting, Bobby accepts that it's time to go. He's saved the best memory for last though, and watches Sam and Dean, happy, bickering about Chuck Norris, while everything fades to black.
