3. Walter White - Breaking Bad

Walter White, aka Heisenberg, is very possibly the first character that comes to mind when asked to picture a TV antihero, and for good reason.

From his humble beginnings as a brilliant chemist forced to confront the looming spectre of death to his rise to power as Albuquerque's most elusive and feared meth kingpin, Walt became more twisted, conniving, detestable and horrid as the series went on and his descent to darkness became more and more unforgivable.

Walt poisoned children, forced innocent victims to kill for him, and betrayed those he once held dear. He emotionally abused his wife and manipulated his son, and put his DEA agent brother-in-law in incalculable danger at every turn.

But despite his villainous turn, Walt always had the support of fans watching his development unfold, thanks to the writing of Vince Gilligan and his team, the fact he was always put against antagonists worse than himself, and the multi-award-winning performance of Bryan Cranston that gave him life.
