10 Best Villainous Voice Actors In The DC Animated Universe
5. Arleen Sorkin - Harley Quinn
You can hardly swing a crazily-oversized mallet these days without hitting some incarnation of Harley on screens both big and small. In the early nineties, however, there was no one else in comics media like her.
Unlike most of the main voice cast in the DCAU, Sorkin had the unique opportunity to give life to a completely new character. She did so by striking a perfect balance of homicidal dizziness and psychiatric logic, making even the most outrageous scheme seem perfectly logical, and vice versa.
She could play sexy when needed in Harley's role as the main squeeze of the Joker, or "Mistah J" as she called him. Sorkin also gave Harley a dark, sympathetic edge at times, reflecting what is now universally accepted as a very abusive relationship with the Joker at a time that most mainstream TV shied away from issues of domestic violence. It was certainly unheard of in cartoons.
There have been many amazing portrayals of Harley since, but Sorkin will always be remembered as the actress who helped give birth to a now-legendary and much-loved DC character.
