10 Biggest Plot Holes In Buffy The Vampire Slayer

2. Everyone Forgets About Jesse

Of all the plot holes in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, this is probably the funniest.

In the very first episode of the show, we’re introduced to all the main characters. Jesse McNally, a close friend of Xander’s, also makes an appearance.

Unfortunately, he doesn’t last for very long. After getting captured by Darla, he’s transformed into a vampire soon after. Xander and Buffy are the first to discover this, but they’re not particularly upset about Jesse’s transformation – they just want to get out of the sewers as soon as possible.

Jesse turns up again when the vampires attack The Bronze, and Xander accidentally kills his friend with a stake to the heart. It’s a dumb end for one of the most bizarre characters in the show, and no one – not even Xander – seems to care about Jesse’s death. Our heroes walk off at the end of the episode, unconcerned about the demise of their classmate.

And they continue to act this way for the rest of the season as well. There’s no indication that Jesse even existed. It’s an amusing plot hole, but the writers clearly weren’t thinking straight when they created Jesse.
