10 Characters From 24 You Totally Didn't Appreciate The First Time

2. Milo Pressman

Milo Pressman
Fox

While Milo always attempted to be courageous and heroic, viewers found him too slick and offbeat in comparison to other key members of the cast. That is until his return run with the show.

Portrayed by the charming Eric Balfour, Milo arrived on the 24 scene in season 1. He stood a brash, smart-mouthed computer programmer with a limited story arc. Called in by Jaime to aid her with the search for the shows big bad, the Milo we see during his opening appearances is mightily different to those we see at the end of his run in season 6, transforming himself into one of the shows more endearing male leads.

Appearing in only 2 seasons, Milo's growth feels genuinely warranted. He is shown to have matured so naturally during that time period. Given his somewhat shorter period on screen it was difficult for fans to grasp the nuances of his development and for them to fully take on board the reasoning behind his maturation.

Milo takes a literal bullet for someone else in a palpable moment of bravery and acceptance. Played to perfection by Balfour, the audience have a sense of his true character as he surrenders himself for Nadia, knowing what his fate will be. It is a moment that is over quickly and can be lost in the shuffle given the pace of the show and the length of time remaining after his death.

It isn't until reflection or upon a second viewing that fans truly get a sense of how his character morphed from a young upstart to a mature CTU agent. Milo should be remembered for his ability to adapt, and for the arc he created to showcase how good storytelling can also be found off-screen for some long-running characters. In Milo's case, it is a justifiable and naturally progression, highlighting once again how the writers created so many believable aspects within the series.
