10 Characters Game Of Thrones Killed Off At The Wrong Time

1. Joffrey Baratheon

Missandei Game Of Thrones
HBO

This figure was the most detested character on TV, thanks to his downright cowardly actions and masochistic tendencies. While his death did lead to one of the most satisfying demises in the series, it came a little too soon, as although plenty of fans were happy to see him go, the character left behind a rather gaping hole.

Without Joffrey, Game of Thrones no longer had an utterly hateable villain. While the likes of Cersei and Tywin certainly were awful, there was always a subtle appreciation for them, thanks to their intelligence and skills. On the other hand, Joffrey was a character you could simply despise without remorse, and that was something the show never managed to recapture.

The writers certainly tried to bring back the magic, with Ramsey Bolton and eventually Euron Greyjoy attempting to take over. But while both had their merits, they never quite reached the same level as the villainous and pathetic King Joffrey.

Simply put, the character should have been kept on a little longer, perhaps just for the fourth season, because seeing this utterly iconic villain go down only two episodes into the fourth instalment left the show feeling hollow.
