10 Comic Book TV Shows Cancelled Before Their Time

4. Constantine (2014)

The excitement was palpable when NBC teamed up with DC Comics to create a live-action Constantine television series in 2014. The show was based on the Hellblazer comics and had little to nothing in common with the live-action film, which took a great deal of creative license with the characters. This show was all about John Constantine and fans loved it.

Unfortunately, that adoration for the series failed to keep it on the air and Constantine only produced a single season consisting of 13 episodes. Even with fan support, the show failed to achieve enough ratings to justify keeping it on the air, but all hope wasn't lost with the series cancellation.

When the show died, the character continued to live on in other series. Matt Ryan continued to voice the character on the CW Seen animated web series, Constantine: City of Demons and he even showed up in live-action form in an episode of Arrow.

Constantine popped up in the third season of Legends of Tomorrow, which worked so well, he was upgraded to a series regular for the fourth season. The world may have lost a Constantine television series, but at least the character continues with the same actor on another.
