10 Controversies That Rocked The Walking Dead

5. The Walking Dead's First Gay Characters

While there has been plenty of controversy behind the cameras, let's not forget that on-screen events have also stirred up a storm, with Season 5 introducing Aaron and Eric, the show's first two openly gay characters. Season 5 Episode 11 saw the pair share a kiss, something that set social media ablaze with some fans outraged, and outlining plans to avoid the show, while others slammed their stance and launched a staunch defence of the characters and the creators. Forgetting politics, opinions and views, it's hard to disagree that Ross Marquand's character has proven to be a very welcome addition to the group, and after being promoted to a season regular, expect to see him feature even more heavily along with his new partner-in-crime, Daryl.
