The Enterprise crew tracked the Xindi weapon to the planet Azati Prime and hatched a plan to destroy it. Unfortunately, it became clear that doing so would almost certainly be a suicide mission.

Several people volunteered for the mission, but Archer made it clear that he would only be willing to sacrifice himself. He was convinced to try a more diplomatic solution by Daniels, who took Archer to the future to show him why he couldn't die just yet. Archer was still destined to help found the Federation, which would eventually save the entire galaxy (including the Xindi) from destruction.

Archer was instead able to get Degra to question the Sphere-Builders, but it's both dark and inspiring how ready Archer was to die for humanity, even if that's not how things ended up happening.
