10 Darkest Star Trek: Enterprise Moments

1. The Xindi Attack

In the second season finale of Enterprise, The Expanse, Earth suffered one of the most devastating alien attacks in its history. Seven million people were killed when a Xindi weapon sliced a line in the ground from Florida to Venezuela.

Immediately after the attack, the Enterprise changed from a ship of exploration to a ship of war. They were recalled back to Earth, where specialised soldiers were brought aboard and new weapons systems were installed.

This attack left all of humanity with trauma. The utopia they were just starting to build now faced a bigger threat than Earth had ever seen. Trip was especially heartbroken when he learned that his sister Elizabeth had died in the attack. The emotions behind the Xindi attack served as a stunningly realistic allegory for how many Americans felt after 9/11. The attacks on the World Trade Centre happened only two years prior to The Expanse airing, and many people were still processing what happened.
