10 Doctor Who Monsters That Need Reworking

6. The Time Lords

2013€™s stunning €˜The Day of the Doctor€™ saw the jaw dropping return of the Time Lords and Gallifrey to our universe and presumably finding them will form the backbone of Capaldi€™s tenure. Imagine how different the show will become once they are fully realised on screen €“ we are so excited to have recurring Time Lord€™s interwoven throughout the Doctor€™s travels, sending him to particular times and places to deal with certain threats. This was, after all, how we were treated to the mind-blowing €˜Genesis of the Daleks€™. What we don€™t want to happen is for Gallifrey to be found immediately. We hope the home planet of the Time Lords isn€™t found for a few series, and rather only hinted at occasionally. Gallifrey returned in the 50th anniversary and so a decent conclusion is needed to give justice to the incredible special; to rush their return would ruin the 50th. So Gallifrey and the Time Lords need to be hinted and teased at for a couple of series before returning in spectacular form. Perhaps they can return in Capaldi€™s final episode? In order for this to work we see the Doctor going on some form of quest, visiting particular times and planets in order to get clues and information as to how they can ultimately return. Maybe the Time Lords have been weaving this information through time and space in a similar manner to how they manipulated the Master by sending the Time Lord heartbeat to the present day.
