10 Doctor Who Characters Nobody Wants To See Return

First introduced in Asylum of the Daleks, Clara Oswald certainly divided the fandom.

The main reason for the hate was that she stayed with the show far too long, with many fans also feeling that she became too important within the Whoniverse.

She initially exits the show at the end of Series 8 following the tragic death of Danny Pink, in a brilliantly awkward scene between herself and the Doctor. However, only one episode later, she is back with the Doctor, and promptly rejoins the TARDIS for Series 9. She's then killed off, is brought back to life, and flies away in her own American diner-style TARDIS. It all became a bit much.

Her arc was convoluted even by Moffat standards, and with Clara becoming the self-proclaimed "most important character in Doctor Who ever" at the end of Series 7, she ascended far beyond the bounds of a typical companion, so it's no wonder she divided opinion.

Clara has tons of fans, no doubt. But like Rian Johnson potentially returning to Star Wars after the divisive The Last Jedi, it'd probably be best to just leave things alone.
