10 Doctor Who Comic Book Characters Who Should Appear In The Show

5. Titan Companions

When Titan Comics decided to give the Doctors new companions to maintain the continuity of the TV series, they struck gold.

Teamed up with the Eighth Doctor was Josephine 'Josie' Day, an artist with special 'animating' abilities who had taken up residence in the Doctor's cottage from his UNIT days. In reality, she was actually a painting of a woman brought to life with animae particles and found by the Twelfth Doctor. In turn, he had left her in the care of the Eighth Doctor - someone he believed would be able to help her find humanity and see the wonders of the universe.

Gabriella 'Gabby' Gonzalez, Doctor Who's first Hispanic companion, was introduced as a companion for the Tenth Doctor after the events of Series Four. A waitress from Brooklyn, she encountered psychic energy creatures known as Cerebravores during the Day of the Dead Festival, and later battled the Weeping Angels of Mons in 1914. After a run-in with a Binary Apprentice, Gabby was given reality-bending powers - something the Doctor helped her control during their travels.

Serving as a new companion for the Eleventh Doctor, Alice Obiefune was a British Library assistant with an expansive history, family, and life - more so than many companions. She kept the Doctor in check and provided him with a moral compass when Amy and Rory weren't around, as her adventures took place after Series Five and throughout his tenure as Doctor. Battling Cybermen, Cyber-Silurians, Nimon, and more, Alice is another great companion during this period and the perfect equal for Eleven.

None of these companions have had a proper send-off or reason as to why they left the TARDIS, leaving their appearances open to future adventures. In an ideal world, a Doctor Who TV anthology series featuring past Doctors would do well to include these unique and well-realised characters.

Galactic Rating: More development than most.
