10 Doctor Who Fans Who Made A Lasting Impact On The Show
3. Ian Levine
If you're unaware of Ian Levine, he's said to have influenced the character of Victor Kennedy in Love and Monsters, which tells you all you need to know. For good or ill, the record producer and Doctor Who fan has been a recurring presence throughout the show's history. Of his many roles, he claims to have been a "Continuity Advisor" to the series in the 1980s, even if that role was, at best, unofficial.
Another project was the charity single Doctor in Distress that he produced to raise money for Cancer Research and show support for Doctor Who from such big hitters as Bobby G from Bucks Fizz. Reflecting how they felt about Doctor Who at the time, the BBC rightly refused to play the disastrous song on the radio. The only notable thing about it is that it featured Hollywood's Hans Zimmer on keyboards.
Levine's more official contributions include composing the unforgettable theme tune to short-lived spin-off K-9 & Company and the returning of various missing episodes to the BBC archives. In recent years, he has funded his own animated reconstructions of missing or unfinished stories and is a vocal critic of the current era. It's fair to say that, without him, Doctor Who fandom would be a much quieter, less interesting place.
