John Hurt didn't get to spend a lot of time in the Doctor Who world, but if this cool behind-the-scenes story is any indication, he didn't let his limited screen time stop him from embracing the spirit and sense of humour that the show is known for.

At the end of The Day Of The Doctor, Hurt's War Doctor bids farewell to two of his future selves: Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor, and David Tennant's Tenth. While doing so, he observes the three parked TARDISes that are in the room with them, and quips "which one is mine?" prompting Ten and Eleven to look a tiny bit bemused.

It's a cheeky little joke that shows us more of the War Doctor's light side, which is good, because he's in quite a glum mood for the majority of the episode.

Even better, this line was improvised by Hurt (as revealed by Steven Moffat during a lockdown tweetalong of The Day Of The Doctor), which, hilariously, might also mean that the surprised reactions of Smith and Tennant are actually genuine.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
