10 Doctor Who Moments The Actors Hated

5. Matthew Waterhouse Vs. Four To Doomsday

Adric is a companion best known for getting absolutely obliterated in one of the saddest Doctor Who moments of all time. He accompanied the Fourth and Fifth Doctors in their adventures and had an interesting storyline in the Fifth Doctor serial Four to Doomsday.

The 1982 adventure revolves around Monarch, an Urbankan who wants to wipe out humanity so he can colonise Earth for his own selfish gain. Adric becomes rather enamoured with this charismatic villain, and it takes all of the Doctor's power to convince him to stay on the side of good.

Matthew Waterhouse was reportedly very unhappy that his character would turn his back on his friends so easily, feeling that the reasoning behind Adric's betrayal wasn't good enough, and that it felt like he was just turning evil because... well, because.

He isn't entirely wrong, as the turn does feel a bit forced. However, since Adric was about to get blown up in two months time, maybe they just couldn't think of anything more to do with him.
