10 Doctor Who Storylines That Were Suddenly Abandoned
3. Donna Will Die If She Remembers
The end to Donna's journey with the Doctor made for one of the most tragic series finale's in the show's history. She began as a brash, clueless, mouthy character and ended up as someone who had compassion, wit and more than a touch of heroism. Losing all those traits and reverting back to her old self as a result of the Doctor's mind merging with her own in Journey's End was almost as bad as her dying. In essence, the Donna we saw in season four really did die. After wiping her memory, the Doctor warned Wilf and Sylvia that if she remembers, just for a second, shell burn up. That seemed pretty conclusive and when she returned in The End Of Time fans worried that this might actually be the end for her. Except for the fact that Russell T Davies basically abandoned that plot point altogether. When confronted with the Master and the alien threat to Earth...she simply fainted. Arguably Donna never really remembered her life with the Doctor, moving on to marry and life a mundane life on Earth. But it also wasted her final storyline, reducing any threat of her death to a mere whimper.
