2. Amy and Rory's Search For Melody Pond
Your daughter has been kidnapped by an evil religious order and a psychotic midwife with an eye patch. You go after her right? Except that after the events of A Good Man Goes To War and Let's Kill Hitler, Amy and Rory just continue their adventures with the Doctor. Yes they knew that their daughter would become River Song, an ally of the Doctor but there was still the heartbreak of the orphanage, the Silence, becoming trapped in the space suit and being forced to grow up alone after dying on the streets cold and starving and regenerating into their friend Mels. Any parent would argue that even though things would eventually turn out right for their child, they would move Heaven and Earth to find her and prevent any of that anguish from ever taking place. By not following that search through, it made a mockery of the storyline; as thrilling as many moments in series six were, the heavy arc meant that stand alone episode and the search for Melody Pond suffered. At least we saw the emotional fall out of these events on Amy and Rory come the beginning of series seven as their relationship collapsed. After all, no one could go through what they went through without many emotional scars.
