10 Dragon Ball Characters You Totally Forgot Existed
5. Launch
Launch was a part of the main Dragon Ball cast for a long time, and was just as prominent as Bulma for pretty much most of the original series. Yet unlike Bulma, if someone were to begin with DBZ they would barely know who she is.
Originally introduced as the girl that Goku and Krillin needed to bring back to Roshi before he would agree to train them, her split personality tended to keep things lively on the island. Whenever she would sneeze, she'd pull out the guns and start blasting. Thus providing a strong counter to Roshi's pervy behavior and teaching the kids that women will kill them if they act that way.
However, as the series took increasingly more dramatic turns there was less room for a purely comedic character and her guns became useless against the kinds of enemies who would show up.
Still, she had a rather stable place among the supporting characters until something unfortunate happened... Toriyama forgot to bring her back.
Launch was in love with Tien, and when he died fighting the Saiyans and the dragon balls seemed to be gone forever, making it impossible to bring him back... to say she took it hard would be an understatement.
The last major time we see her, she is drowning her sorrows in a dive bar after having robbed a bank, totally convinced that the world is doomed.
Nobody bothers to brief her on the Namek plan, so after this she's pretty much gone. Tien eventually gets wished back but by then so much has happened that the whereabouts of Launch are the last thing on anyone's mind and she just doesn't ever come back apart from a few random cameos and it's easy to forget she was ever a part of the series at all.
