10 Dumbest Things In Star Trek: Picard

9. Picard is dead! Long live Picard!

If you can guarantee two things in life, it's that we'll have to deal with taxes and that no Star Trek character is permanently dead.

In Picard's case, that's both true and false. At the end of the first season, his human body finally gave in to the pressures of Irumodic Syndrome (or did it?) that had been in the background since 1994's All Good Things. Yet you can't have a show called Picard without Picard, so the reveal that he wasn't really, really dead fell a bit flat. It also threw up something of a discussion among fans since this wasn't Picard anymore, but a synthetic Picard. But with his memories and personality, and the ability to age.

So was it actually Picard? Should the series have been entitled Star Trek: Picard Version 2.0 from that point?!

In the subsequent two seasons, his new body isn't heavily referenced until mid-season three, where his flesh and blood body is stolen from a secret research facility, in some ways bringing about a nice full circle to the story and fully acknowledging the first season wasn't a bit of a fumble.

However, this is still one of those musts for your Star Trek bingo card when you can tell that a major character has zero chance of staying dead and will be back on their feet before the end credits roll.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
