10 Forgotten Horror TV Shows You MUST Watch
6. Masters Of Horror
Another Mick Garris creation, Masters of Horror was aired on Showtime from 2005 to 2007 and is known for its origins hailing from a series of dinner Garris had with horror genre maestros such as Guillermo del Toro, Dario Argento, John Carpenter, Wes Craven, David Cronenberg, among others.
Many of the directors (also referred to as Masters) who attended these dinners ended up writing and directing episodes of the 26-episode series As mentioned earlier, Fear Itself was restricted by network standards but Showtime did not have such limitations baked into its inner structure.
This meant that Masters of Horror could go all out when it came to depicting the depraved and unnerving components of horror, as well as cover subject matter that may have proved too much for network censors with episodes such as Homecoming, Imprint and Pro-Life.
While Masters of Horror was sometimes uneven quality-wise (in a similar manner to its predecessor), it also felt more assured in its presentation and therefore hit its mark more often than not.
