10 Funniest Christmas TV Specials To Watch This Holiday Season
6. Bob’s Burgers - The Bleakening
The third of four animated specials to make the cut, Bob’s Burgers is easily the most wholesome of the prime time cartoon family, and so have lots of warm and fuzzy episodes to choose from. This year’s Better Off Sled and Last Gingerbread House On The Left from two years ago were both hilarious, but last year’s two parter The Bleakening just edges them out.
It centres around Linda, a character who probably gets the fewest episode leads of the family. That’s more because she’s such a brilliant support character though than any failings, and here she carries the hour long story perfectly.
The episode’s plot features Linda searching for her stolen Christmas tree, with Louise desperate to find it too, believing it (and other decorations) to have been stolen by the Bleaken, an anti-Santa. It turns out the decorations were taken by an underground gay club, who were forced to shut down their regular, above ground venue. The tree was theirs originally, with Linda finding it abandoned in an alley.
It’s a cozy story when it all breaks down, with a lovely Yuletide message of acceptance. Guest spots from Adam Driver and Todrick Hall seal the deal.
