10 Game Of Thrones Facts That Will Blow Your Mind

6. A Severed Head That Resembles George W. Bush Was Used In Season 1

The title alone should give you an indication of just how much controversy this one aroused after season 1. Everyone knows that not all props are custom made for every TV show and film; if that was the case the budgets would have to be thousands of dollars bigger. Even in million-dollar budgeted shows like Game Of Thrones, some corners have to be cut, and that's exactly what the producers did with the 10th episode of season 1. On the commentary track for the DVD, the producers revealed a fun little factoid which rippled into a major controversy. Do you remember that cruel scene when Joffrey forces Sansa to look at her father's severed head? When he points to her Septa's head as well, there's another head right next to it, and if you take a really close look and you have a talent for recognising faces in profile, you'll see that it's a prop head modelled after President George W. Bush. HBO immediately denied any involvement, the creators released an official apology, and all future DVD and Blu Ray releases had that part of the commentary cut out. But, in the age of the internet, once something leaks out it can never really be erased regardless of how many apologies you make, and this was just way too mind-blowing not to be part of the list.
