10 Greatest Disney Channel Original Movies

5. The Luck Of The Irish

This one is kind of funny, because it plays with the idea of a kid learning that they have somewhat supernatural origins which give them special powers or something, only in The Luck of the Irish... he just ends up shrinking.

Basically, Kyle is the product of an intimate relationship between a human and a leprechaun, and the only thing that was keeping him all human-sized and stuff was the lucky coin he always kept with him.

Until it's stolen, of course, then everybody starts shrinking and talking with an Irish accent and all hell breaks loose.

Ultimately, this is a fun movie that is more charming than it has any right to be, and has the right mix of otherworldly elements that mark some of the best DCOMs and a good old-fashioned lesson about being proud of your heritage. Plus, this was like peak Ryan Merriman, who was the gold standard as far as DCOM child stars went.
