Why Should I Watch? Densely plotted and deeply rewarding, Narcos has only been available since the end of August but has already proved a huge hit and has been renewed for a second season. Based on the real life events of Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar and his rise from a petty smuggler to the most ambitious, powerful and violent overlord of all-time is what Narcos is all about. Sure, its a story were already aware of, but it tells familiarity in a captivating and compelling manner, supported by a smart thematic shift which sees the events witnessed from the perspective of the DEA agents. Maura's Escobar is hypnotic in the lead role; an effortless blend of haunting horrors and slinky smarts. Holbrook's Agent Steven Murphy - who also serves as the narrator here - provides his biggest role of his career to great effect, and his partner is Javier Pena, played by Game of Thrones alum Pascal. They share a progressive dynamic which is fascinating to watch blossom as they close in on Escobar who tries to stay one step (or one helicopter ride) ahead of them. After a stellar first season, anticipations and expectations are very high for Narcos' return in 2016.
