10 Horror TV Shows That Deserved Another Season
5. Invasion
Sometimes, the timing of a TV show's release can be a real dampener for its potential success. For example, you wouldn't want to watch a compelling horror series with rampant depictions of a hurricane directly after Hurricane Katrina, right? Yeah, that became uncomfortably accurate for this series as one of its major plots accidentally became a reality.
Invasion was a brilliant sci-fi horror series from 2005. It told the story of a small Florida town that was invaded by water-based creatures after being hit by a devastating hurricane. The plot also took plenty of inspiration from the classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers, as these invaders tried to take over the characters' bodies.
Of course, the show really got off on the wrong foot, as the unlucky link to the real-life tragedy made advertising challenging, and the imagery was difficult for many to handle. It's a massive shame, as the show boasted a career-best performance from William Fincher alongside actors like Tyler Labine, Alexis Dziena, Elizabeth Moss and a young Evan Peters.
The combination of its poor timing and low ratings meant that ABC didn't have much faith in it, and it became another sordid example of a show with so much potential dying before its time.
