10 Horror TV Shows That Would Make Incredible Movies

7. The Terror

The Terror is a title that feels inherently cinematic but on a TV screen. Like many fantastic shows, it completely understands how to jump out of its position on a small screen and feel like something you could see in a cinema. The show takes an anthology approach to its narratives, with a different story and setting in each season. But the concept and setting of the first would make a film that is unique in the horror movie world.

The initial story arc of the show centres on a group of Royal Navy polar explorer ships the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror. Soon the ships and crew are stranded in an icy wasteland and must survive not only the harsh cold but each other. To make the situation even worse comes the fact that they seem to be stalked by an evil presence.

It has this sense of claustrophobia and paranoia running through it frequently which makes it easily comparable to John Carpenter's The Thing. There are parallels in regards to the snowy setting and narrative similarities. But it never feels reductive of the horror classic. If anything, its comparisons prove how well it could translate to the big screen.

It's a novel setting for horror, and that would make this project stand out so well.
