2. Turning Himself In
In the Season 2 finale, we see Rick turn himself in to the authorities rather than going on the run. It’s not just the actual act which is kind though, but the reason he does it.
After the family try to help Rick evade capture, they land on a new planet and Rick goes exploring. While he’s away, he overhears the family arguing about what to do with Rick. Jerry wants to turn him in; he’s never been particularly nice to Jerry and they are risking a lot by sheltering an intergalactic fugitive, after all.
The rest of the family won’t hear a word of it, however. As soon as Rick learns this though, he decides to turn himself in. Knowing that his family were prepared to uproot their lives to keep him safe shows just how strong their bond is.
The fact his family offer him an easy way out and he still elects to act selflessly shows how much he truly cares about them. He might act like a jerk at times, but he always tries to keep his family safe.
