10 Memorable Post-Regeneration Moments In Doctor Who
9. Thirteen Falls Out Of The TARDIS - The Woman Who Fell To Earth
As already mentioned, the modern series likes to add extra drama to post-regeneration episodes by having the TARDIS crash or blow up in the Doctor’s very new face. So, the Thirteenth Doctor losing control of the TARDIS was sort of to be expected.
However, unlike her previous incarnations, Thirteen goes one step further; falling out of the TARDIS completely and hurtling down to Earth. It’s a dramatic moment, but one that is slightly absurd. Whilst it is debatable how far a Time Lord can survive a fall (like Ten did), we can’t ignore the fact that the Fourth Doctor definitely died when he fell in Logopolis. A fall from a shorter height no less, onto pretty soft ground. Compare that to Thirteen, who has to go through the planet’s atmosphere and then smash through a metal train roof. Even taking into account that she is newly regenerated, it’s pushing it a bit. There’s not a flicker of energy repairing what should be at least a few bruises. A cool visual yes, but it’s definitely going to be remembered as one of the more logic defying moments in Doctor Who.
