3. X-Men The Animated Series - "Till Death Do Us Part"
October 23rd 1993. Scott Summers & Jean Grey If you like Friends but feel it's lacking in civil rights allegory, and face lasers, then this is the wedding for you. The long awaited ceremony uniting Scott "Cyclops" Summers and Jean Grey was 2 seasons in the making. During that time they faced Sentinels, Magneto, Morlocks, the Juggernaut, Sabretooth and an entire faction of foes of diverse mutant, human, and alien origins. The biggest test to their love however is a fellow mutant, and all around bad boy heart throb with a mysterious past, the Ol' Canucklehead, our favorite lone wolf, the best there is at what he does, and what he does ain't pretty, Wolverine. Since James Howlett (aka Logan, aka Wolverine, don't ask, it's complicated), first laid eyes on Jean there's been an attraction there, one that true love never really seemed to get in the way of. This episode sees the wedding go off without a hitch, until it's revealed that the reverend is actually a pissed off Morph, who the X-Men left for dead in the first episode of the series. Beast, Gambit and Wolverine are attacked by the Friends of Humanity while getting a drink in a downtown bar. The attack is recorded on video and the video is used to fuel more anti-mutant sentiment. Meanwhile back at the mansion Morph, in the guise of Storm traps Jubilee with the same gang of Anti-Mutant terrorists. He then sets up Storm and Rogue to be shot by the entire New York police force. Rogue escapes with her life, leaving Storm behind. It ends with a reveal of a mysterious character orchestrating everything from the shadows, Mr. Sinister. And that's just the first half. This two part episode goes over the kidnapping of our newlyweds by the newly introduced Mr. Sinister and the Nasty Boys. We witness an epic battle where Morph struggles with the dark side of his personality and in a bitter sweet finale, Cyclops and Jean vow to get married again one day. Meanwhile Morph escapes and Wolverine vows to find him and save him from his dark side.
