10 Minor Doctor Who Actors Who Became Big Names

4. Thomas Brodie-Sangster

Although he has been a successful actor since childhood, Sangster€™s role in Doctor Who came at around the point where he was making the transition into larger roles and where he was really getting into his stride. Alongside Jessica Hynes, Sangster played one of the most significant secondary characters in Series 3€™s two-part story Human Nature and The Family Of Blood. Sangster€™s character was Tim Latimer, a student at Farringham Boys School who comes across the fob watch containing the temporarily human Doctor€™s Time Lord essence and sees both flashes of the Doctor€™ life and his own future. Tim plays a vital role in helping the Doctor defeat the Family (aliens trying to steal his lifespan) and later fights in the First World War, saving his own life and that of a school friend thanks to experiencing a vision of them being hit by a bomb years before it happens. The epilogue to The Family Of Blood later reveals that he lived a long life and kept the fob watch until his final years. Sangster is currently voicing Ferb in Disney XD€™s animated comedy Phineas And Ferb, and has been cast as the voice of John and Gordon Tracy in the BBC€™s upcoming Thunderbirds revival.
