10 More Great TV Shows Cancelled After Just One Season
7. Action (1999)
Action is the hilarious 1999 black comedy about a Hollywood producer trying to recover after his last box office film flopped. The show was hilarious, providing an irreverent and fearless commentary on Hollywood and the culture it breeds.
Jay Mohr plays Peter Dragon, the aforementioned producer under immense pressure to make his next film a success. There’s a whole cast of funny individuals around the studio such as Adam Rafkin, the sexually frustrated struggling Jewish screenwriter who was only picked up because people thought he was Mouse Hunt writer, Adam Rifkin.
The show became famous for its celebrity cameos; Tony Hawk breaks his leg, Keanu Reeves is fondled during a movie premiere, Salma Hayek reveals she was sexually harassed by Peter Dragon, Sandra Bullock has to stop Dragon from leaking their sex tape and David Hasslehoff shows up at a charity auction… to name a few.
Very few people saw the show and it was unfortunately cancelled so early that many episodes remain unaired. This is perhaps down Action not airing on its intended network of HBO and instead launching on Fox, however if you like extremely dark humour and can find yourself a copy of this show, give it a watch.
