10 Most Inventive Ways That Doctor Who Has Killed Off Its Own Characters

2. Death By Extreme Weight Loss (Partners In Crime)

One of the most deliciously inventive deaths ever in Doctor Who was cooked up by showrunner Russell T Davies to open Series 4. Doctor Ten and mouth on legs Donna Noble were reunited in Partners in Crime to face an adversary who had a unique method of raising offspring. Miss Foster patented a slimming pill ("The fat just walks away!") which in fact used human fat to create the devilishly cute Adipose. How adorable they looked, even with their little single fang, until we remember they are made from human spare tyres. The death of the poor slimmer who was stunned to see herself 'give birth' to an Adipose to only then totally be subsumed by them is one of Doctor Who's oddest, comical and horrific moments, a work of genius from writer Russell T Davies. How he must have cackled as these fat vampires were then turned into plush toys.
