This entry involves a character so hated by the fandom for being pure evil that it is most likely that many people took one look at her picture and felt an involuntary urge to cut her head off. But without this absolute literal monster, Rising of the Shield Hero would not have become as popular as it is now.

At first, the Rising of the Shield Hero seemed to start off like any other generic Isekai show. Four heroes showing up in a strange new world from our world and given superpowerful weapons and told to become saviors of the world.

When the Shield Hero, aka Naofumi Iwatani, was in need of companions no one joined him except a young girl called Malty, aka Myne, who sticks up for him and gains his trust their first day adventuring together.

But the next morning Naofumi wakes up to find all of his gear and money has been stolen. Then he is arrested by the guards and falsely accused of raping Myne. No one believes Naofumi to be innocent. Myne eventually reveals that she was behind the whole ordeal. Isolated from the world he is meant to protect Naofumi develops a deep-seated hatred that would never go away.

Myne's betrayal is definitely shocking and set her up as easily one of the most hated characters in all of anime. But without her Rising of the Shield Hero would just be another generic show and we never would have met the better and kinder Raphtalia, who actually stands by Naofumi no matter what.
