What a way to kick off season two! Kate Mara's journalist had made for an interesting opponent and ally to Frank during House of Cards' first year, but Zoe became a problem when she started getting wise to exactly how Frank had managed to rise to the position of Vice President. A lot of lesser shows would have milked this for all its worth, spending the season playing a cat and mouse game of her closing in on the truth. Not House of Cards. There are those who have said that Frank violently throwing Zoe in front of a train was the moment that House of Cards jumped the shark. It worked though, and served as further proof that he's willing to do anything to get what he wants. It also drastically changed the status quo of the series, as almost the entire journalism subplot was quickly dropped.
