Freddy was a constant throughout the first two seasons of House of Cards as one of the only truly decent people in the series. He even somehow made Frank seem human, but perhaps all of that is why viewers should have seen it coming that he would eventually become another of the Underwoods' victims. Frank struggled with his decision to cut the BBQ joint owner out of his life, but did so in an instant out of self preservation. As it turns out, being friends with Frank can be just as damaging as being an enemy, and Freddy's life was left in tatters thanks to the Vice President's ongoing feud with Raymond Tusk. It was heartbreaking then to see him return in season three desperately searching for a job, but satisfying to see Frank give him one. However, the former cook's true feelings towards his old customer are perhaps best summed up by what he said to Remy as he looked for an excuse to get to work and away from sharing a smoke with the President.
