Though Tyrion was no novice when it came to whoring, he developed a genuine affection for Shae during his time in King’s Landing.

This affection was then torn apart in the fourth season following Tyrion’s dismissal of his new mistress. Angered as a result of this, Shae took revenge at Tyrion’s trial, during which she humiliated her ex-lover and falsely accused him of killing Joffrey.

However, it was Tyrion who took the ultimate revenge. After being set free by Jamie, he made his way into the Tower of the Hand and discovered Shae in his father’s bed. Tyrion then proceeded to suffocate Shae before killing his father.

Possibly due to the fact that Tywin died immediatley afterwards, Shae’s death is often overlooked. Tyrion’s expression of both rage and grief was a phenomenal piece of acting from Peter Dinklage, making his act of revenge both satisfying and tragic at the same time.
