6. Divorce
Divorce returned to screens for its second season this year, and in many ways it was an improvement on the first. The comedy-drama stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church as a married couple who realise that they've no longer got the chemistry to make their marriage work, and thus pursue a divorce. This season payed specific focus to life after divorce proceedings.
Much like Barry, Divorce is as much as a drama as it is a comedy, and the character journeys are of extreme importance to the narrative. The humour is also top notch, with Thomas Haden Church's wonderful delivery being one of the best things about the show.
Sarah Jessica Parker's big return to HBO hasn't taken off as much as we'd expected, as Divorce's ratings aren't anything to write home about. But don't let that fool you into thinking that Divorce isn't worth your time, because it absolutely is.
