10 Plots From Stargate That Were Just Dropped
1. The Trust
And finally... The Trust. The Trust started out as the 'rogue elements' of the NID, a civilian/military oversight agency that was quickly revealed to have its own agenda. Rather than make alliances and cultivate friendships with the other worlds out in the galaxy, the NID simply wanted to steal their stuff and use it to defend Earth. They included such delightful faces as Colonel Harry Maybourne, Colonel Frank Simmons and Senator (later Vice-President) Robert Kinsey.
As time went by, the NID had to clean its ranks and those rogue elements were driven out, but apparently managed to find corporate backing. They continued their own attempt to defeat the Goa'uld throughout the later seasons of SG-1, then several of them were exposed and captured by the Goa'uld, who infiltrated and overtook the group. Eventually, the group fell under the sway of Ba'al.
Now all this sounds like The Trust got their day in the sun, but there was never any resolution to them, they were never concluded as an adversary, despite their considerable potential for some kind of endgame scenario. The Trust were everything that the SGC were trying not to represent, they are driven by greed, fear and deception, where the SGC tries to act honourably and with forethought. Would have been great to have had some kind of final resolution as to how these infiltrators were finally dealt with.
So that's 10 Plots from Stargate that never went anywhere, let's hope that the cliff-hanger finale of Stargate Universe gets resolved someday...
