10 Reasons Doctor Who Fandom Is The Best In The World

7. The Cinema Screenings

Not many TV shows can boast having a special episode for their 50th anniversary but how many can also boast having said episode screened in cinemas across the globe? The Day of the Doctor was already scheduled to air simultaneously all over the world when they announced that the 50th anniversary would also be released in theaters. It was a decision that paid off. The event pulled in approximately $10 million worldwide and was the third-most popular release in the United States that weekend. The 50th anniversary was so successful that they repeated the cinema screenings for Peter Capaldi€™s Doctor Who debut Deep Breath in August 2014. Once again, the show was a hit. It was ranked seventh at the UK box office and first at the US box office for the respective days it was shown on the big screen in those countries. With two such massive successes as these, a third theater release seems almost inevitable and how many TV shows can say that they have had episodes - not movies but regular episodes - screened in theaters all across the world?
