10 Reasons Murder House Is The Best Season Of American Horror Story
7. Murphy Developed A Taste For Blood
How on Earth can one man go from Glee to American Horror Story? Enter the crazy world of Ryan Murphy.
Murphy already had a taste for the macabre thanks to his time on Nip/Tuck, but thankfully the director's first foray into horror wasn't his last. In 2011 he dipped his toe into the world of American Horror Story and soon became hungry for more. After being forced by his grandmother to watch ABC's soap opera Dark Shadow, it seemed that horror came naturally to the co-creator:
"I went from Nip/Tuck to Glee, so it made sense that I wanted to do something challenging and dark. And I always had loved, as Brad had, the horror genre. So it just was a natural for me."
Since Murder House, Murphy and Brad Falchuk have continued to steer Horror Story, but the first season was the most horror lead with your classic haunted house genre. Not confined to just AHS, Murphy also brought us Scream Queens.
A much lighter version of a horror anthology, it follows Horror Story alumni Emma Roberts, and horror legend Jamie Lee Curtis. You may be able to spot the similarities of a murder mystery trapped in a big old house. Without Murder House, Scream Queens would never have existed, so thank you Ryan and Brad for gifting us this campy comedy.
