10 Reasons Netflix's Marvel Is Definitely Worth Your Time
6. They're So Different
The movies in the MCU range in genres. From the childish fun of Ant-Man to the darker revenge themes of Civil War, they do a good job of catering for everyone.
There's a lot of variety in the Netflix shows, too. Daredevil opens it all with a typical superhero tale. It's grittier than usual, but it has the traditional conventions - superpowers obtained through an accident, a secret identity, good morals, an arch-nemesis.
Jessica Jones has more of an anti-hero narrative. In a noir style, the series tells us the story of an alcoholic PI, trying to come to terms with her past. Iron Fist has mystical ideas, and Luke Cage impressively tackles themes of social injustice in Harlem. The fact that these characters, with their widely disparate backgrounds, come together so well in The Defenders is a testament to the writers.
The Punisher takes things to another level with its brutal and merciless revenge themes. It might not be for everyone, but it proves that Netflix's Marvel isn't a one trick pony.
