10 Reasons Star Wars Fans NEED To Watch Rebels

5. The Mandalorian Backstory

Star Wars Rebels Season 1
Lucasfilm

Now the focus of the new Disney+ series, at the time Mandalorians were less explored in the Star Wars canon. By time of the Mandalorian, the remaining Mandalorians are in hiding, after a devastating event during the days of the Empire, and Rebels is the turning point for their clans.

With season two and three showing the Mandalorian's part in the Empire. Season four takes us back to Mandalore itself and sees the Mandalorians confront the controlling Empire. If you're a fan of Mandalorians, then you must watch Rebels, as to date it is the largest exploration of their history and culture. Something which could prove important to future Star Wars content.

Rebels adds so much to the lore of the Mandalorians, from the various clans and houses to the importance of the Darksaber. The Darksaber is an ancient black bladed lightsaber created by Tarre Vizsla, the first Mandalorian inducted into the Jedi Order. It was later stolen and passed through the generations of Vizsla. The blade has had many owners, and around the time period of Rebels it moved from Pre Vizsla, to Maul, before being wielded by Sabine. In order to unite Mandalore, Sabine gave the saber to Bo Katan.

And with the Darksaber now in the hands of Moff Gideon, who knows what could have happened to result in this. However, it is rumoured Bo Katan could also be returning in the Mandaloriant season two, so this story definitely isn't over...
