4. The Height Of The Empire
Rebels excels at showing the audience what life is like under the rule of the Empire. From Jedi hunting Inquisitors, to the Emperor's exploration of the Force, Rebels shows the iron fist of the Empire, especially over the planet Lothal.
They say a show is only as good as it's villains, well Rebels has plenty. Big bads of the series have included the Grand Inquisitor, Darth Vader and Grand Admiral Thrawn.
As I've already mentioned Rebels is brilliant at showing the control the Empire has over the galaxy. And whilst our heroes technically get the win in the end, with them liberating Lothal, on a galactic scale, the Empire still rules, as shown in the original trilogy.
Another feature of Rebels is all the new aspects of the Empire it shows, or shines a greater light on. The Inquisitors are a fantastic addition to the canon for two reasons. In universe, it's logical to have dark force users hunting remaining Jedi. For the audience, it means we can get plenty of lightsaber combat without the need for Darth Vader.
Also, Rebels brings a lot of unique ideas into the canon. Such as the introduction of Interdictor-class Star Destoryers, for pulling ships out of hyper space, something which makes a lot of sense in a franchise involving space combat. Explores secret plans which the fans learn to realise surround the construction of the Death Star. And reintroduces Grand Admiral Thrawn into the canon...
